Why women over 55
It's a group whose experience of family violence often stays hidden, and whose options can narrow to two: stay unsafe, or have nowhere to go.
Leaving later in life carries barriers that get higher with age rather than lower. Financial insecurity. Housing stress. A shortage of affordable accommodation. And the very real fear of losing connection, independence and stability all at once.
Safety shouldn't cost a woman everything else she has built.
What your support does
HopeStreet's response is deliberately practical, because at that moment practical is what helps.
Safe pathways. Temporary accommodation, so there is somewhere to go tonight. Transport. Essentials. Specialist support from people who know the systems and treat a woman as the expert in her own life.

The Halo Ball
The ninth annual Halo Ball is at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney on Friday 30 October 2026. It has run every year since 2016, and it has become one of the most significant nights in HopeStreet's calendar. Funds raised go straight to frontline services.
